How can Physio Help Older People at Risk of Falls and Fragility Fractures?

or call us today at 0207 884 0374

According to The Chartered Society of Physiotherapists, “35% of over-65s experience one or more falls. About 45% of people over 80 who live in the community fall each year. 10%-25% of these people will sustain a serious injury”.

A fragility fracture is any fall from standing height (around 6ft) or less.  Fragile bones are more susceptible to fragility fractures whilst performing everyday activities.  Although this is part of getting older, it does not mean you are more likely to fall and with input from a physio you can improve your balance to reduce your risk of falling.  Bone is a living tissue and exercises as instructed by your physiotherapist can help to strengthen your bones.
