Headaches can be caused by a dysfunction in your neck. Known as a cervicogenic headache, the pain is felt in the head but in actual fact is referred pain from the neck. The pain can originate in the upper neck when the vertebrae become compressed and stiff. Typically people that lean forward in their chairs, and poke their chins out get these types of headaches by placing their joints and muscles into positions that are unnatural to their bodies alignment.
Typically a cervicogenic headache is a dull ache, normally affecting just one side but not exclusively. Discomfort can be felt at the back of head, behind the eyes, top of the head, forehead and around the ears. Along with the headache you may experience a stiff and sore neck and other symptoms such as dizziness and pins and needles.
